Independent, creative and collaborative, the East End Trades Guild has ample synergy with Baddeley Brothers. Committed to protecting and promoting independent businesses in this eclectic part of London, the Guild has produced a fundraising film to promote East End Independents’ Day on Saturday 3 December – and asked Baddeley Brothers Director Charles Pertwee to take part.
“East End Independents’ Day is a worthy idea that’s giving a greater voice to smaller businesses,” said Charles. “It’s about working together, opening new doors and ensuring that independent businesses continue to make up the fabric of our local community. Our staff love to live and work here, and it’s the local arts, manufacturing and food that help make this part of London vibrant and different. The diversity of businesses is also important, so we can all buy and sell to each other and I’m keen to support companies that provide a variety of jobs for people in the area.”
Guild Organiser Krissie Nicolson added: “Independent businesses like Baddeley Brothers have a strong connection to the neighbourhood; employing local people, promoting a healthy economy and contributing to the life of the community. Although our members are from diverse sectors, they share common values that give them authenticity, distinctiveness, enhanced customer service and local knowledge. I believe that part of the Guild’s job is to mirror the values it finds in its members and to amplify them through events and workshops, to help strengthen collaboration and trade between members.”
